Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developing with the sea breezes this afternoon and evening (5-25% chance of rain).
  • Scattered showers and thunderstorms may begin to move into the Panhandle overnight into early Saturday morning as a weak cold front approaches (15-35% chance of rain).
  • A few strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts, hail, and locally heavy downpours may be possible along the Panhandle (Marginal Risk for Severe Weather – level 1 of 5).
  • Isolated instances of nuisance flooding and ponding of water cannot be ruled out with locally heavy downpours over urban or low-lying/poor drainage areas.
  • High temperatures in the 80s to low 90s.

  • Winds near 5-15 mph with gusts near 10-20 mph expected.
  • Sensitive to locally elevated wildfire conditions along portions of the Peninsula this afternoon and evening.
  • Mandatory Burn Bans remain in place for numerous counties across the Peninsula.
  • Moderate to high risk for rip currents along the East Coast and Florida Panhandle.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 60s to upper 70s.

  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fog possible across portions of the overnight into Saturday morning.
  • A Special Weather Statement remains in place for Eastern Marion County as significant reductions in visibility along State Road 40 in the Ocala National Forecast due to Super Fog may be possible overnight into the early morning hours over the next several days.
