…The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in New Mexico…
Cimarron River Above Cimarron affecting Colfax County.
* WHAT…Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE…Cimarron River above Cimarron.
* WHEN…From this afternoon to Wednesday evening.
* IMPACTS…At 5.0 feet, The Cimarron River from near Ute Park to
just west of Cimarron is out of its banks and minor flooding is
occurring along this reach. Further upstream in Cimarron Canyon,
water may be flowing across U.S. Highway 64 and flooding
campgrounds in the canyon. Further river rises in the canyon could
render the highway impassable. Further downriver from Cimarron to
the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch, additional flow contributed by
Rayado Creek could flood campsites on the Philmont Scout Ranch.

– At 4:45 PM MDT Monday the stage was 5.2 feet.
– Bankfull stage is 5.0 feet.
– Recent Activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 4:45 PM MDT Monday was 5.2 feet.
– Forecast…The river will rise to 6.2 feet this evening, then
fluctuate between 5.0 feet and 6.2 feet through Tuesday
night. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday morning.
– Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
6.3 feet on 08/07/2019.
