An active weather pattern will continue across the Panhandle today with rounds of scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms as a warm front shifts across the Gulf Coast and the Panhandle (45-75% chance of rain).
Embedded strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening along the western Panhandle, and these thunderstorms may bring frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts (50-60 mph), an isolated tornado or two and locally heavy rainfall – Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather.
Plenty of moisture ahead of the frontal boundary will help aid shower and thunderstorm and may lead to instances of localized flash flooding and ponding of water across the far western Panhandle – Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Flash Flooding.
Shower and thunderstorm activity across Northeast Florida may be enhanced by the sea breeze moving onshore and inland throughout the day.
The typical summertime sea breeze thunderstorm pattern will redevelop across the interior Peninsula this afternoon and evening with the help of moisture flowing towards the warm front (45-70% chance of rain).
Locally strong to severe thunderstorms embedded within shower and thunderstorm activity will be possible during the peak heating hours of the day.
The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) is outlooking a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Flash Flooding along northern portions of the I-95 corridor and along the Space Coast where locally heavy rainfall may lead to instances of flash flooding and ponding of water for urban and low-lying/poor drainage areas.
High temperatures across the state will reach 80s to lower 90s across the state this afternoon, with feels-like temperatures across interior West-Central and Southwest Florida reaching the lower to middle 90s by the mid-afternoon.
Sea breeze generated showers and thunderstorms will move offshore and dissipate late this evening and into the early overnight hours.
A break in shower and thunderstorm activity will return across the Panhandle before another round of showers and embedded thunderstorms re-develop early Thursday morning (15-30% chance of rain).
Low temperatures will fall into the middle 60s to middle 70s overnight, with the Florida Keys seeing low temperatures in the upper 70s.
A moderate risk for rip currents can be expected to persist along Panhandle and numerous East Coast beaches with onshore winds and surf upwards of 1-3′.
