Special Weather Statement issued May 8 at 6:12PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

At 611 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 14
miles southeast of Franklin, or near Highlands. Another storm was
located near Sky Valley Georgia. Both storms were moving east at 30
mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, Bad Creek, Pine Mountain, Whiteside Mountain,
Lake Jocassee, Highlands, Scaly Mountain, Sky Valley, and Sapphire.
