Hydrologic Outlook issued May 8 at 4:03PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK

ESFAFC

As of late Thursday afternoon, heavy floes of ice are working their
way downstream on the Kuskokwim River from near Bethel to Napakiak.

Water levels are high to near bank full as these runs of ice move
downstream; however, flooding is not anticipated as downstream ice
has been rapidly weakening over the past several days down to the
mouth of the Johnson River. Per observation, area sloughs and
Kuskokwim River tributaries are also taking some of the ice to
relieve stress on the Kuskokwim.

NWS and the River Watch team will continue to reach out to local
community members for observations. To share any local observations,
please email anchorage.weather@noaa.gov.

Stay tuned for updates.
