Flood Advisory issued May 9 at 8:59PM AKDT until May 10 at 9:15PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK

At 8pm Friday the River Watch team reports that the breakup front
on the Kuskokwim River remains stalled at the mouth of the Johnson
River, with strong, intact ice extending downstream. The breakup
front is approximately one half mile long, with open water upstream
of the ice jam.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by an ice jam continues.

* WHERE…Kuskokwim River near Napakiak and along Brown’s Slough in
Bethel.

* WHEN…Until 915 PM AKDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Kuskokwim River flows are elevated due to ice jam near
the mouth of the Johnson River. Minor nuisance flooding is
occurring in low-lying locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 8:00 PM AKDT, The River Watch Team reported an ice jam on
Kuskokwim River near the mouth of the Johnson River.
Impounding water due to the ice jam may cause river rises
upstream.
– For Kuskokwim River at Bethel:
At 8:00pm the stage was 8.2 feet.
Flood Stage is 8.5 feet.
