At 625 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
capable of producing waterspouts over marine areas 8 miles southeast
of Shell Beach, or 23 miles northeast of Port Sulphur, moving east at
5 mph.
HAZARD…Waterspouts, winds in excess of 40 mph, and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs
and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor
objects is possible.
This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of central St. Bernard
Parish.
