…CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED THROUGH THIS EVENING…
.Warm, dry, and breezy conditions continue the rest of today with
strong southerly wind gusts around 20-30mph common across the
western U.P. However, some stronger gusts to around 35mph are also
possible. Meanwhile, temperatures are rising well into the 70s,
with some locations even peaking above 80 this afternoon. Relative
humidity currently around 20-30% across the area should bottom
out in the teens to lower 20s this afternoon. This will contribute
to an ideal environment for rapid fire growth and spread.
The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
until 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ this evening.
