Flood Advisory issued May 12 at 11:44PM EDT until May 13 at 5:45AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the
following counties, Watauga and Wilkes.

* WHEN…Until 545 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows
over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in
urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1144 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 3
and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
– This includes the following streams and drainages…
Flat Branch, Dutch Creek, Fall Creek, Elk Creek, Craborchard
Creek, Dugger Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Cove Creek, Brushy
Fork, Beech Creek and Beaver Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
