…CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED AREA WIDE
WEDNESDAY…

.A slow moving Pacific storm system will bring another day of
widespread critical fire weather conditions to the area today.
Overnight RH recovery has been limited in some areas due to
continued breezy conditions overnight, which will result in
slightly drier conditions today, especially over the higher
terrain. West winds will once again range from 25 to 35 mph over
a wide area, with gusts to 50 mph common. Gusts to 60 mph will
occur over the higher terrain and some downslope areas,
especially in the Tularosa Basin.

* AFFECTED AREA…All of southwest and south-central New Mexico,
including Fire Weather Zones 110, 111, 112, and 113. All of Far
West Texas including Fire Weather Zones 055 and 056.

* TIMING…Wednesday between 11 AM and 9 PM.

* WINDS…West 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…8 to 12 percent in the lowlands, and 15 to
20 percent in the higher terrain above 7500 feet.

* EXPERIMENTAL RFTI…5 to 7 or Critical to Extreme.

* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
