Potomac River at Point of Rocks affecting Frederick and Loudoun
Counties.

Harpers Ferry, Point of Rocks, Edwards Ferry, Little Falls…
Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHAT…Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Potomac River at Little Falls.

* WHEN…Until early Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS…At 12.0 feet, The C&O Canal overflows at the Great Falls
Tavern. Water covers the towpath in many areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 9.9 feet, or 0.1 feet
below flood stage.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early this morning to a crest of 12.2 feet this evening. It
will then fall below flood stage Friday evening.
– Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
12.2 feet on 02/27/1961.
