* WHAT…Two to three feet of inundation above ground level
expected in low lying areas due to freshwater flooding.
Moderate flooding is expected.
* WHERE…Shoreline in the District of Columbia, especially in
the vicinity of Georgetown.
* WHEN…Until 4 PM EDT Friday. Tidal fluctuations will likely
be overcome by freshwater flooding, with an extended period of
moderate flooding forecast at Georgetown.
* IMPACTS…For the Coastal Flood Warning, the Washington Harbour
boardwalk will be covered. Low lying areas near Fletcher’s
Boathouse will be flooded. More than a third of Roosevelt Island
will be inundated. Rock Creek will experience backwater
flooding. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, shoreline inundation
is expected along portions of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive
and the Hains Point Loop Road, and near the Tidal Basin and
Jefferson Memorial.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides two to two and a half feet above
normal. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 11:00
AM.
