URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Tornado Watch Number 270 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 650 PM CDT Fri May 16 2025 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Tornado Watch for portions of Northern and Central Arkansas The Missouri Bootheel Far Northern Mississippi Western Tennessee * Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 650 PM until 200 AM CDT. * Primary threats include... A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3 inches in diameter likely Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible SUMMARY...Multiple supercell thunderstorms should pose a threat for a few tornadoes this evening, with a strong tornado possible with any persistent supercell. Otherwise, large to very large hail (up to 2-3 inches in diameter) along with scattered to numerous severe/damaging winds also appear likely. Peak gusts may reach up to 65-75 mph if a line of thunderstorms can form later this evening. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles north and south of a line from 5 miles south southwest of Russellville AR to 50 miles east of Jackson TN.
