URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 316 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 900 AM CDT Sat May 24 2025 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southern and Central Arkansas Southeast Oklahoma Far Northeast Texas * Effective this Saturday morning and afternoon from 900 AM until 300 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms across southeast Oklahoma at mid-morning will likely continue east-southeastward across the region through the late morning and afternoon. This cluster produced a 66 mph measured wind gust at Mcalester OK around 8am CDT with golf ball hail and tree/powerline damage. Damaging winds and large hail risks are expected to continue. Other severe storms, probably more isolated, may occur as far north as central Arkansas. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles north and south of a line from 20 miles northwest of De Queen AR to 30 miles northeast of Monticello AR.
