Grand Canyon Airport (GCN) Runway Closures – Update

Dates: (Phase 1A) June 15, 2025 – July 14, 2025:

  • Pre-closure Work Location: Construction will occur at Taxiway A / B.
  • Airfield Closures: Nightly closures of Runway 3-21 (expected to be 8pm – 6am).
  • Effects on NAVAID’s: The plan is to have the NAVAID’s stay on at night during the entire duration of pre-closure work (but will be NOTAM’d out).

Dates: (Phase 1) July 14, 2025 – August 10, 2025:

  • Closure: Expect Runway 3-21 to be closed to all aircraft operations with lighted X’s on the runway ends (excluding helicopters operating from their respective ramps).
  • NAVAIDS and Lighting:  NAVAID’s and lighting will be disabled.
     

Dates: (Phase 2) September 10, 2025 – September 29, 2025:

  • Airfield Closures: Nightly closures of Runway 3-21 (expected to be 8pm – 6am).
  • Effects on NAVAID’s: The plan is to have the NAVAID’s stay on at night during the entire duration of work (but will be NOTAM’d out).

KAVL Runway Closures and Terminal Ramp Update

KAVL will have overnight runway closures beginning Monday night (Tuesday morning, June 17) through Thursday night (Friday morning, June 20), from 0400Z–0900Z. The following initial NOTAMs have been published, with additional notices expected in the coming days. Please monitor NOTAMs closely for updates: AVL 06/039 AVL RWY 17/35 CLSD 2506170400–2506170900 AVL 06/040 AVL TWY ALL CLSD 2506170400–2506170900 In addition, the micro-phasing plan is now underway, resulting in intermittent gate closures through the end of July. Flood Warning issued June 7 at 9:06PM CDT until June 9 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Trinity River at Riverside affecting Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker Counties. For the Trinity River...including Crockett, Riverside, Romayor, Goodrich, Moss Bluff, Liberty...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Trinity River at Riverside. * WHEN...Until early Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 134.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding continues with the boat ramp in the Deep River Plantation Subdivision in Walker County inundated. Backwater flooding up Thomas Lake in Walker County floods the boat ramp in the Green Rich Shores Subdivision in Walker County.
