Warning for the following rivers in Kansas…
Mulberry Creek Near Salina affecting Saline County.
Smoky Hill River Near Mentor affecting Saline and McPherson
Counties.
Smoky Hill River At Lindsborg affecting McPherson County.
Smoky Hill River near New Cambria affecting Saline County.
* WHAT…Moderate flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of
record.
* WHERE…Smoky Hill River near New Cambria.
* WHEN…From Wednesday afternoon to late Friday morning.
* IMPACTS…At 30.0 feet, Niles Road south of Stimmel Road near the
gage site begins to flood. Also expect extensive flooding of
low-lying areas and croplands. Within the city the following roads
become flooded, Railroad Street and Mill Street, First Street and
Second Street and Cunningham. Dependent on high flows coming down
from Saline River, Old Highway 40 may flood about a foot deep from
Simpson Road to Niles Road.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 8:45 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 5.6 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 30.3 feet Thursday morning.
It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday evening.
– Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
