Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • A stagnant weather pattern will continue to lead to daily showers and thunderstorms developing throughout the day along the sea breeze.
  • Morning showers and thunderstorms have already develop along the coastal Big Bend and Nature Coast, and southerly to southeasterly winds to keep bringing them onshore this morning.
  • Additional scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms can be expected to develop across the state along the sea breeze boundaries, with some locally strong to severe thunderstorms possible (50-70% chance of rain).
  • Frequent lightning, gusty winds and torrential downpours can be anticipated with any stronger thunderstorm activity.
  • The greatest coverage of showers and thunderstorms along West Florida where both sea breeze boundaries meet and collide with one another.
  • The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) is outlooking a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Flash Flooding across the Panhandle as heavy downpours could lead to nuisance flooding and ponding of water for urban and low-lying/poor drainage areas.
  • Warm and muggy conditions can be expected throughout the state with high temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
  • Feels-like temperatures will warm up into the upper 90s to triple digits (100-105-degrees).
  • Shower and thunderstorm activity will gradually dissipate following the sea breeze back towards the coast and coastlines late in the evening and overnight, with a few showers lingering along the coastline.
  • Locally patchy fog may be possible early Tuesday morning throughout North Florida.
  • Low temperatures will fall into the 70s and lower 80s overnight.
  • A moderate risk for rip currents can be expected to persist for Panhandle and Atlantic Coast beaches.
