Oklahoma…
Chikaskia River near Blackwell affecting Kay and Grant Counties.
* WHAT…Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE…Chikaskia River near Blackwell.
* WHEN…Until late tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS…At 33.0 feet, Floodwaters cover several city blocks in
northeast Blackwell. Some residences may suffer minor flooding and
some will be isolated by depths up to 4 feet in streets. Highway
177 north of Blackwell… and Hubbard Road southeast of Blackwell
are closed. Blackwell Avenue is overtopped at the bridge crossing.
Rural lands are inundated by floodwaters ranging up to 5 feet in
depth in extreme northeastern Grant and Kay counties.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 7:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 32.8 feet.
– Bankfull stage is 28.0 feet.
– Forecast…The Chikaskia River is expected to rise to a crest
of 33.0 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall
below flood stage tomorrow afternoon.
– Flood stage is 29.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
33.0 feet on 06/10/1995.
