Flood Warning issued June 18 at 9:07PM CDT until June 20 at 2:20AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS

…The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Kansas…

Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties.

* WHAT…Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast. This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE…Slate Creek at Wellington.

* WHEN…Until early Friday morning.

* IMPACTS…At 23.5 feet, Slate Creek floods the Kansas Turnpike
near mile marker 15 or four miles south of the Wellington exit.
Closing of I-35 or the Kansas Turnpike from the Wellington
interchange to the KS OK border is highly likely and traffic to be
rerouted. Expect extensive cropland and field flooding along the
creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 8:46 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 23.2 feet and rising.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.7
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
flood stage tomorrow afternoon.
– Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
