Hydrologic Outlook issued June 18 at 3:07PM AKDT by NWS Juneau AK

ESFAJK

Some areas in the Haines and Skagway Boroughs will be warming into
the mid to high 70s by Friday and increasing into the weekend, up to
the low 80s along the Haines Highway area. Snow levels are expected
to rise to 8000 feet or higher. This will increase the amount of
snowmelt running into the streams and rivers. This will raise the
water levels in them, and in some cases could bring the levels to
bankfull or beyond. In particular, the Chilkat River forecast has
been gaining confidence on reaching levels to around minor flood
stage. The Taiya and Skagway rivers are anticipated to see increases
as well, but at the time are approaching bankfull. We will continue
to watch the rivers in Haines and Skagway closely for indications of
impactful rises from this snowmelt.
