Special Weather Statement issued June 21 at 6:59PM EDT by NWS Morristown TN

A ridge of high pressure will build into the Tennessee valley and
southern Appalachians through next week producing hot and muggy
conditions. Highs will climb into the lower and middle 90s across
much of the Tennessee valley during the week with some areas in
the upper 90s by mid-week.

The hot temperatures and humid airmass will produce heat indices
in the mid to upper 90s Sunday and Monday, increasing to upper
90s to lower 100s for Tuesday and Wednesday, and possibly 105
degrees for the latter half of the week.

For any outside activities, remember to stay hydrated, limit
strenuous activities outside during the afternoon hours, wear
light-weight and light-colored clothing. Know the signs of heat
illness and practice heat safety. Check in on people without air
conditioning, as well as any elderly relatives and neighbors.
Never leave children or animals in an unattended vehicle, as car
interiors can reach deadly temperatures in a matter of minutes.
