* WHAT…Flooding caused by snowmelt and channel shift continues.
* WHERE…Matanuska River near Butte, AK.
* WHEN…Until noon AKDT Friday.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 525 PM AKDT: Last week’s warm temperatures combined with
bank erosion have led to high water breaking through the
banks of the Matanuska River between the Old Glenn Highway
and the River in the Maud Road area. Water levels are
expected to very slowly recede over the next few days as
temperatures remain cooler than last week which has lessened
the rate of snow melt in the mountains upriver. Since this is
largely driven by new erosion along the riverbank, persons in
this area should continue to monitor the situation.
– For Matanuska River at Palmer:
At 4:30pm the stage was 22000.0 cfs.
