Flood Watch issued June 27 at 10:34AM EDT until June 27 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE…Portions of Virginia, including the following areas,
Alleghany VA, Amherst, Appomattox, Bath, Bedford, Botetourt,
Campbell, Craig, Franklin, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, Roanoke and
Rockbridge and southeast West Virginia, including the following
areas, Eastern Greenbrier and Monroe.

* WHEN…From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– A backdoor cold front will provide a focus for storm
initiation later this afternoon. As storms develop, storm
motions will be very slow given the flow aloft is weak. This
combined with substantial moisture across the area will lead
to a flash flood threat across west central Virginia and
portions of WE West Virginia.
