Flood Warning issued June 27 at 9:41PM CDT until June 28 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall earlier in the week
continues.

* WHERE…Portions of central and east central Nebraska, including
the following counties, in central Nebraska, Merrick and Nance. In
east central Nebraska, Polk.

* WHEN…Until 700 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Low-water crossings may still be inundated with water,
especially along area creeks, and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 931 PM CDT, gages along both the Silver Creek and Prairie
Creek near the community of Silver Creek indicated continued
flooding, as runoff continues to work downstream through the
area. As of 845 PM CDT Friday, the Silver Creek gage was
holding fairly steady at 10.8 feet, solidly above minor flood
stage of 9 feet. Also as of 845 PM CDT Friday, the Prairie
Creek gage was at 9.5 feet and slowly falling, but still
above minor flood stage of 9 feet. In addition, an off-duty
NWS employee observed widespread flooding of agricultural
land near both creeks early Friday evening, including water
over some rural roads including A Road just west of Silver
Creek. Over the next day or two, minor flooding could also
commence along the Clear Creek in northern Polk County.
– This includes, but is not limited to, the following streams
and drainages…
Prairie Slough, Warm Slough, Moores Creek, Silver Creek,
Prairie Creek, and Clear Creek.
– Some locations that could experience flooding include…
Central City, Clarks, Silver Creek, Chapman and Archer, but
mainly rural areas outside of these communities.
