Frostbite may occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these very cold temperatures, especially for a prolonged period of time.

For the High Wind Watch, from late Monday night through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Winds will create areas of blowing snow, particularly Saturday late morning through afternoon. * WHERE...The Wasatch Mountains, and Western Uinta Mountains. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Winter driving conditions are expected. Special Weather Statement issued January 2 at 11:58AM CST by NWS Quad Cities IA IL

Light snow is expected across the area this afternoon into early this evening. Snow amounts up to around 1 inch are expected, with some higher amounts of near 2 inches possible near and north of a line from Fairfield, Iowa to Monmouth, Illinois. Untreated roads could become slippery especially by late afternoon into this evening as temperatures drop below freezing. Exercise caution if driving across the area this afternoon and evening, and plan for a little extra time to reach your destination.

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southeast, and southwest Minnesota and northwest and west central Wisconsin. * WHEN...Until midnight CST tonight. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. For locations that have temperatures drop below 32 degrees, freezing fog could deposit onto surfaces and create slippery spots on roads, especially bridges and overpasses.
