* WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 50 below. * WHERE...Eastern Copper River Basin, including the Tok Cutoff and Richardson Edgerton Highways. * WHEN...Until noon AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures will remain cold through Saturday morning across the eastern half of the Copper River Basin. Locations along the Richardson and Edgerton Highways will continue to see temperatures hover near 40 below zero. * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 50 below. * WHERE...Thompson Pass * WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures for Thompson Pass will remain below zero through Saturday morning. Additionally, winds will continue to intensify, with gusts reaching as high as 60 mph. This combination will produce wind chill values as low as 50 below zero.

At 1230 PM EST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Comers Rock to West Jefferson. Movement was east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Sparta... Independence... Laurel Springs... Mouth Of Wilson... Speedwell... Volney... and Stratford.
