The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality in Raleigh NC has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates for Macon, McDowell, and Rutherford Counties, until midnight EDT tonight. An Air Quality Action Day means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. * WHAT...A moderate risk of sneaker waves. * WHERE...Douglas, Coos, and Curry County Beaches. * WHEN...From Late Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death.
