East winds increase late this afternoon into the 30 mph range, with gusts to 45 to near 50 mph developing tonight and early Friday. The strongest winds will be across Prudhoe Bay. Lack of transportable snowfall, due to recent dry weather and wind, will likely inhibit significant visibility reductions in blowing snow. * WHAT...Southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Annette Island. * WHEN...From 3 AM to 3 PM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts look to start ramping up late Thursday night, mainly after 3AM. Recent trends have made it increasingly likely for accumulating snowfall around Fairbanks from Thursday morning through Friday morning. 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible with the highest amounts expected towards Fox and in the higher terrain. There will be bands of heavier snow with this event so it is possible to see higher snowfall totals. *IF* we notice changes in snowfall totals, we will issue an advisory as necessary.
