ESFBYZ Recent warm temperatures and increased snowmelt have area rivers and streams running high. While decreasing temperatures will bring an end to most of the snowmelt in the mountains, widespread precipitation is expected into Thursday. Snow is expected to fall above 7000 feet, with periods of showers and weak thunderstorms bringing between 0.5 to 2.0 inches of rainfall over the lower elevations and foothills. Rivers and streams will remain high, and additional rises are possible due to the expected precipitation. AQAPSR The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an Ozone High Pollution Advisory for the Phoenix Metro Area through Friday. This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects increase as air quality deteriorates. Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended. Periods of heavy snow showers will bring 5 to 10 inches of snow from Allakaket to Chandalar Shelf and south to around Gobblers Knob along the Dalton Highway through Saturday. This area includes Bettles and Coldfoot as well. The heaviest snow will fall from this afternoon through this evening and then again on Friday afternoon and evening as another shortwave aloft moves over the area. Drivers can expect periods of low visibility and rapidly changing conditions along the Dalton Highway.
