Lowering humidity values to near 25 percent along with northwest winds gusting to 25 to 30 mph will create some near-critical fire weather conditions early to mid-afternoon across northwest Iowa and portions of southwest Minnesota. Winds are expected to trend slowly downward this afternoon which should begin to ease the approach towards critical fire weather conditions by late this afternoon.

A series of weak disturbances will bring persistent light snow chances to the West Coast this weekend into next week. Widespread snowfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are likely by Wednesday with locally higher amounts up to 8 inches possible. The period of steadiest snowfall is expected Sunday into early Monday morning that when combined with north winds gusting up to 35 mph may restrict visibility to a half of a mile or less.
