Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow begins Thursday afternoon and lasts through Saturday. The strongest winds and greatest blowing snow potential exists very close to the coast with winds diminishing further inland. Winds diminish overnight Friday although snow continues.

The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services in Columbia SC has issued an Air Quality Alert for Fine Particulates for the Greenville mountains of South Carolina, until further notice. High pressure drifting east off the Southeast Coast will continue to dominate the region through tonight, minimizing dispersion from the Table Rock wildfire in Pickens County and the Persimmon Ridge wildfire in Greenville County. Stable conditions and light winds overnight will enhance the noticeability of smoke in the mountains of South Carolina in Greenville and Pickens counties. South and southwesterly flow during daytime hours will help disperse and transport the smoke

Low relative humidity, gusty winds and above normal temperatures will produce favorable conditions for wildfires to ignite and spread on Saturday.
