Refreezing of snowmelt and areas of runoff will create slippery spots and patches of black ice over portions of the Coastal Plain tonight, starting around sunset, and persisting through Friday morning. These slippery areas on roads, especially on bridges, and on sidewalks may make driving and walking hazardous this evening through Friday morning. Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution this evening through early Friday. Roadways that appear just wet may be covered in black ice. Scattered snow showers are likely through this evening as an arctic front moves through the region. Some snow showers will reduce visibility to under one-half of a mile and produce a quick coating of snow. Probabilities remain highest in the I-80 corridor, but low visibility showers remain possible anywhere within the region. With temperatures dropping into the 10s, snow will easily be able to stick to roads and water may refreeze, making travel slick on untreated and treated roads.
