Relative humidity values between 25 and 30 percent are expected this afternoon. Winds look to be slightly more elevated today, with sustained winds around 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph at times. That combined with very dry fuels will result in an increased fire danger. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits have been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact their NC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal's office.
