* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 27 below zero expected. * WHERE...Central Piscataquis, Northwest Aroostook, Northern Piscataquis, and Northern Somerset Counties. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...These dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes. Snowfall accumulations are possible across elevations of 2500 feet or higher today. Total accumulations are expected to be between a dusting and 2 inches, with the possibility of over 3 inches being confined to highest peaks. Any accumulations of snow or other wintry precipitation are expected to be light. However, driving and walking may be difficult on some untreated roadways and paths across the higher elevations of the mountains. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities across the higher terrain. If traveling through the mountains, slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

A strong Pacific cold front will be moving out of the Four Corners area and sweep south across the Borderland late tonight into Tuesday morning. The frontal passage will produce gusty north winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph overnight through the Sierra Lakes region/Luna and Dona Ana Counties, and also the Tularosa Basin through El Paso County. Wind gusts will still be brisk in other areas, but not quite as strong. The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, heavy rain is still possible with this thunderstorm.
