The combination of low relative humidity values, warm temperatures, southeasterly winds, and dry fuels will result in elevated fire weather conditions for this afternoon across southeast Minnesota, southwestern Wisconsin, and far northeast Iowa. Afternoon relative humidity values could fall as low as 25 to 35 percent with winds of 20 to 25 mph, gusting to 30 to 40 mph. Under these conditions, fires will start and spread easily. Please exercise caution with any activities that involve outdoor fires or create sparks, including campfires, grilling, and operating large equipment. A strong cold front will move south across the area between 2 PM EST and 10 PM EST. A heavy band of snow with snowfall rates of an inch an hour will quickly move through the area along the cold front. As the cold front passes, the wind will become northwest 20 to 30 mph and will cause considerable blowing and drifting of the snow. There will be an hour or two of very low visibilities below a quarter of a mile as this front passes through. When travelling this afternoon into early evening, be prepared for a rapid change
