Mooney M20 Control Wheel Shaft Fatigue Cracks

The FAA is investigating the report of a control wheel separation on a Mooney M20C aircraft due to fatigue cracks in the control shaft or control wheel attachment hub. This failure might result in momentary loss of control of the aircraft until the pilot or copilot is able to regain control with the second control wheel. This may reduce the capability of the airplane or the ability of the crew to cope with adverse operating conditions to the extent that there may be a significant reduction in safety margins, especially in certain phases of flight, such as takeoff and landing.

KILM, Wilmington International Airport Hot Spot 1

KILM, Wilmington International Airport has a Hot Spot at the intersection Alpha, Bravo, Foxtrot.  Hot Spot 1 is a confusing intersection with three taxiways merging with less than 90 degree turns.  The hot spot is located near the intersection of Runway 6 /24 and 17 / 35. HNL Taxiway C Construction

There will be extensive construction work on Taxiway C at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) commencing in February, 2025 that will run for approximately one hundred eighty nine (189) days, contingent on weather and other contingencies. As always, check all NOTAMS and be particularly alert for unusual clearances and taxi instructions during the construction. There will also be preliminary work to repair both the north and south entrances to the HNL South Ramp Tie-down and T-Hangar areas.  The South entrance repair is scheduled for Thursday 9/5 from 1500 thru Friday 9/6/2024 @ 1000. DuPage Airport Authority Tower and Illinois Aviation Academy Letter of Agreement

"On 8/25/2024 two Letters of Agreement (LOA) went into effect between DPA Tower and Illinois Aviation Academy (IAA). The two LOAs will have limited impact on the operation for aircraft not participating, however here are some of the key points so that those not involved know what procedures are being followed. At this time the actual documents will not be made public. The first LOA created 6 colored taxi routes and will be used on frequency as follows: “Taxi via the Red Route, Cross runway 10” “Runway 20L, taxi via the Brown route, Cross Runway 33 Hold Short Runway 28”

Power Lever Failure and Cracking on Cirrus SR20/SR22/SR22T

The FAA is investigating a report of a power lever failure on a Cirrus SR20 airplane.  While advancing to full throttle in preparation for takeoff, the power lever sheared and the pilot aborted the takeoff.  The fleet operator inspected additional aircraft and found cracks in numerous levers through visual and dye penetrant inspections.  The aircraft hours on the fleet ranged from 2900 to 3900 hours.  The aircraft are utilized in a training environment and contained an average of 12,000 to 15,000 landings. FEMA Authorizes Funds to Fight Rail Ridge Fire in Oregon BOTHELL, Wash. -  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Rail Ridge Fire burning in Grant, Crook and Wheeler counties, Oregon.  The state of Oregon’s request for a federal Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) was approved by FEMA Region 10 Administrator Willie G. Nunn on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 6:48 p.m. PT. He determined that the Rail Ridge Fire threatened to cause such destruction as would constitute a major disaster. This is the twelfth FMAG declared in 2024 to help
