At 1059 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar had ended and only light rain persisted. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.1 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Manuelitas Creek, Sapello River, Coyote Creek and Mora River. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. A surge of monsoon moisture will continue to push into the region tonight into Tuesday. Rounds of thunderstorm activity are expected through Wednesday with most of the activity Tuesday evening and night over much of the southern Rio Grande Valley. Heavy rainfall with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour could lead to flash flooding. More thunderstorm activity can be expected into Wednesday with already saturated grounds.
