Special Weather Statement issued June 24 at 2:33AM AST by NWS San Juan PR

According to PTWC an earthquake occurred at about 63 miles north of Isla de Mona at 227 AM AST. The earthquake has been reported as across portions of western PR. Based on location and magnitude the earthquake was not sufficient to generate a tsunami damaging to Puerto Rico...the Virgin Islands...the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf of America coasts or eastern Canada. Some of these areas may experience non-damaging sea level changes.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110. * WHERE...Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Heat impacts are likely in most health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat index values will be highest on Monday and Tuesday. The highest heat index will occur in the urban valley locations. Temperatures in the 70s overnight will provide little if any relief.

Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
