A brief round of light to moderate snow will impact the area Friday morning, generally lasting 1 to 3 hours for most areas. Accumulations will generally be one-half inch or less, with localized higher accumulations to 1 inch. While elevated and grassy surfaces are most likely to be impacted, a few locations may see brief slushy conditions on roads. Snow will taper off to light snow showers or flurries by midday, and possibly linger into the evening before completely ending.

Over the last 36 hours, portions of the southern panhandle have seen significant rainfall accumulations of over 3 inches, ranging to around 9 inches in parts of Ketchikan. After a short-lived lull in the rain Monday night, another round of heavy rain is expected for Tuesday. Rainfall totals through Tuesday are expected to be 1 to 3 inches, with up to 4 inches in Ketchikan and Annette Island. Runoff will have a difficult time keeping up with this amount of rain, particularly in areas where the ground froze over the last week. Expect ponding of water on roadways and for
