Special Weather Statement issued March 25 at 4:00AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC

The combination of low relative humidity of 20 to 28 percent, wind gusts peaking at 20 to 30 mph later today, and dry fuels in place will create a risk of adverse fire behavior today over central North Carolina. This risk will be highest during the afternoon through early evening. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits have been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact their NC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal's office.

Special Weather Statement issued March 23 at 4:00AM EDT by NWS Columbia SC

The combination dry air, dry fuels, and increased wind speeds this afternoon raises concerns for dangerous fire behavior across the area today. Very dry air remains across the area through this afternoon, with min RH values forecast to fall around 20 percent. These conditions will lead to increased fire danger this afternoon into the early evening hours. Additionally, the South Carolina Forestry Commission's Burn Ban remains in effect for all SC counties until further notice.
