As a warm front lifts north of the area, southwesterly winds will increase to 20-25mph with gusts reaching 35-40mph from mid-morning through the afternoon. The strong winds will blow loose items about and could potentially knock a few tree branches down. In addition, travel may become difficult for high-profile vehicles...especially on east-west oriented roadways such as I-74, I-72, and I-70.

Winds from the west-southwest around 10 to 20 mph are expected to gust as high as 25 to 30 mph today over portions of the Coastal Plain. These winds will be accompanied by low relative humidity of 20 to 25 percent. This combination of winds and low humidity will bring an increased risk for adverse fire behavior today. Relative humidity will drop as low as 25 to 30 percent this afternoon, along with south-southeast winds gusting to 20 to 30 mph. These dry and breezy conditions will pose an elevated risk for wildfire spread this afternoon in parts of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches.
