At 540 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported pea to dime sized hail with a strong thunderstorms near Twin Bridges, or 14 miles northwest of Sheridan, moving northeast at 20 mph. Additional thunderstorm development is occurring across northwest Madison county with storms tracking north into southern Jefferson county through 700 PM MDT. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail in addition to lightning and brief moderate rainfall. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. The combination of a dry air mass, mostly clear skies, and light winds will allow temperatures to quickly cool tonight. Mid to upper 30s are possible in rural valleys and outlying locations late tonight and early Monday morning, leading to the potential for patchy frost formation. If frost occurs, sensitive plants and vegetation may be damaged. Locations near large bodies of water or on ridgetops will remain warmer and will not have frost.
