Winter Storm Warning issued June 6 at 6:36AM AKDT until June 7 at 7:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. * WHERE...South of Toolik Lake including Atigun and Anaktuvuk Passes. * WHEN...Until 7 AM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will be heavy at times today. The heaviest snow will likely be just south and east of Anaktuvuk Pass and towards Atigun Pass. Another round of snow looks to move into the area on Sunday and continue into Monday. Those snow amounts are not included in this product, but there may be several additional inches of snow.

Near or below freezing temperatures are expected to impact much of the Southern Interior late Friday into early Saturday. Areas of frost are expected by Saturday morning. It might be best to wait until after the weekend to plant your garden or cover/protect sensitive vegetation that was already planted, since winter isn't quite over yet.

Dense fog has developed over southern Lake Michigan this morning. This will drift inland at times today along the immediate lakeshore in Illinois. Be prepared for sudden changes in visibility to one quarter mile or less if traveling along the lakeshore today. If you encounter dense fog, slow down, turn on low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued March 17 at 6:36AM EDT until March 17 at 6:45AM EDT by NWS Miami FL

The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe limits, and are exiting the warned area. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with these thunderstorms. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. After record breaking warmth over the last three days, winter will return during the week ahead with light snow across northern and central New Mexico and much colder temperatures. Total snow accumulation of a few inches will be possible Tuesday through Wednesday morning along the east slopes of mountain ranges and eastward onto western parts of the eastern plains. Locally heavier amounts around a half foot will be possible on mountains peaks and east-facing slopes. Snow, heavy at times, is expected to develop from the Lower Yukon Valley to the northern Interior Monday through Thursday. The heaviest amounts expected in the Nulato Hills, Galena and northeast to Huslia. Snowfall totals over the 4 day stretch will approach 6 to 12 inches in some spots. Periods of heavy snow may result in travel delays.
