Special Weather Statement issued March 3 at 7:11PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

Although relative humidity will be higher Tuesday, temperatures will be warmer and winds will be stronger during the afternoon and early evening hours. Rain is not expected to develop soon enough to have an impact on fuel moisture during the warmest part of the day on Tuesday. So, in coordination with forestry officials an Increased Fire Danger Statement remains in effect for North Carolina and South Carolina for Tuesday. The Increased Fire Danger Statement was expanded into northeast Georgia to account for dry and windy conditions. * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf expected. * WHERE...Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...From Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore.

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet with dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Ventura County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 6 PM PST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a brief lull in the surf on Wednesday, but the surf builds again into Thursday. This High Surf Advisory will likely need to be extended.
