Relative humidity values between 15 and 25 percent are expected this afternoon. Although winds are not expected to be strong, a few gusts over 15 mph may occur. That combined with very dry fuels will result in an increased fire danger. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits have been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact their NC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal's office.
