Special Weather Statement issued December 1 at 8:24PM AKST by NWS Juneau AK
Over the last 24 hours, portions of the southern panhandle have seen snow changing to heavy rain with rainfall accumulations of over 1 inch, ranging to over 5 inches in parts of Ketchikan. Heavy rain is expected to continue through Sunday night and Monday with another 2 to 4 inches, more at higher elevation, between 6 PM Sunday and 6 PM Monday. Runoff will have a difficult time keeping up with this amount of rain, particularly in areas where the ground froze over the last week. Expect ponding of water on roadways and for flashy creeks to spike up. Boat
