The combination of dry fuels, S-SW winds of 10 to 15 mph gusting to around 20 to 25 mph this afternoon, and relative humidity values dropping to 25 to 30% will result in an increased fire danger threat for northeastern North Carolina. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits have been cancelled. With light winds in place this morning, areas under and along the edge of a small batch of low level clouds will continue to see the potential for patchy fog this morning.
