ESFLOT Favorable conditions for river ice development and possible ice jams are expected tonight through early next week, impacting the Rock, Fox, Des Plaines, and Kankakee river basins. Bitterly cold temperatures will return to the region tonight and persist through early next week. This will make conditions favorable for the rapid formation of river ice on area rivers and tributaries. River ice spotters and river gauge data indicate that most area rivers already have some areas of heavy river ice including a few minor ice jams. New ice jams will be possible along the Rock, Fox, Des Plaines, and Kankakee

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch. Visibility one half mile at times. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Travelers on Interstate 80 between Laramie and Cheyenne can expect westerly wind gusts up to 55 MPH through noon. Wind gusts may also expand to parts of Interstate 25 between Cheyenne and the Colorado border. Be ready for sudden wind gusts and keep a firm grip on your steering wheel. slow down if encountering these strong winds.
