Winter Storm Warning issued December 31 at 9:18PM MST until January 2 at 5:00PM MST by NWS Grand Junction CO

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 16 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Elkhead and Park Mountains. * WHEN...From 2 PM Wednesday to 5 PM MST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Flat Tops and Gore and Elk Mountains/Central Mountain Valleys. * WHEN...From 2 PM Wednesday to 5 PM MST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Vail Pass will become snow and ice packed making driving difficult especially heading up to the summit.

* WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Ohio. * WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Main accumulating band of snow is currently over Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties where road impacts are being observed. This band should shift westward to Lake, Geauga, Portage, and Mahoning counties after midnight. Lake effect snow will become more scattered after 4 am as high pressure builds in.
