Special Weather Statement issued January 27 at 9:52PM EST by NWS Peachtree City GA

Some patchy freezing fog as developed across far northwest Georgia late this evening with visibilities between half a mile to 2 miles. Temperatures in these areas are currently at or just below freezing and may pose a risk for a very thing glaze of ice to develop on elevated surfaces through the early morning hours. Improving conditions are expected shortly after sunrise as temperatures rise. If driving, slow down, use low-beam headlights and leave extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Temperatures tonight will drop to 20 to 25 degrees in most areas by daybreak Saturday. The cold temperatures will freeze any meltwater or slush on untreated surfaces tonight. Secondary roads, sidewalks, or driveways in shaded areas along with untreated bridges and overpasses will likely have a covering of ice and packed snow through Saturday morning. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle or to slip and fall.
